Artist statement
Esther Tara Rose McCorquodale Artist statement:
The comics and illustrations that I create represent overcoming obstacles of everyday life. They all come down to finding Christianity, determination, hope, and forgiveness in trials. The inspiration that I use comes from my background of religion, Celtic, Norse, and Filipino culture with the myth, history, characters, and creatures that I create and use to build my world. Some of the creatures are like the werewolf from Celtic mythology are said to have been friendly and protect farmers. The other inspiration that is a source for my works is from J.R.R Tolkien's "Lord of the Rings," "The Silmarillion," and "Unfinished tales."
The main inspiration of my work comes from the struggles that I went through with anxiety and depression. That faith and determination helped me continue the adventure called life, and I want to help people who are going through this struggle, that there is hope to move forward no matter what. It can be tiring, but life is an adventure, with its many twists and turns. They are not alone.
